🚧 Drivers traveling through downtown San Antonio should prepare for major lane closures on northbound I-35 beginning Tuesday, October 28, as crews begin bridge joint repairs along the upper level between I-10 and McCullough Avenue.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the lane closures will remain in effect through November 2025, with additional construction activity continuing in the area through spring 2026 as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements to the I-35 corridor.

The work aims to extend the life of the elevated structures and improve ride quality for motorists. While traffic will remain open during most of the project, lane reductions and intermittent closures are expected to cause delays, especially during peak travel times.

TxDOT encourages drivers to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and allow extra travel time when navigating the downtown area.

Motorists can find up-to-date traffic information, detour maps, and real-time lane closure updates by visiting DriveTexas.org.
