Yay! Good news. CVS Pharmacy will be a COVID-19 vaccination site in 11 states, including Texas. Texas Department of State Health Services gave the green light to CVS Pharmacy to administer the vaccination shot in 70 Texas stores including select San Antonio stores.
Beginning February 9th people can begin registering for an appointment at CVS.com, through the CVS Pharmacy app or by calling toll free 1-800-746-7287. Expect slots to fill up quickly but don’t let it discourage you from trying again.
On February 11, CVS Pharmacy locations will begin giving the vaccinations by a licensed professional to those who had made appointments only. They will not take any walk-ins.
โOur presence in communities across the country makes us an ideal partner for administering vaccines in a safe, convenient, and familiar manner,โ said Karen S. Lynch, President and Chief Executive Officer, CVS Health. โThis is particularly true for underserved communities, which have been a focus for us throughout the pandemic.โ
Those who meet the state criteria to get a COVID-19 vaccine for Phase 1a can register to get the shot at a CVS beginning as early as February 9. Those people who are healthcare workers, residents in long-term care facilities and people over the age of 65 or over 16 with a chronic medical condition that puts them at a greater risk to contract the severe illness are eligible to get the vaccine.
