In a momentous occasion, the city celebrated the grand opening of the Stanley Spigel Trailhead, a new gateway to the ever-expanding Howard W. Peak Greenway Trail System. Located at 8123 Guilbeau Rd, this trailhead covers approximately 9 acres of land generously donated by the Spigel family in District 7.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked a significant milestone in enhancing outdoor recreational opportunities for San Antonio residents. The Stanley Spigel Trailhead offers essential amenities, including accessible parking stalls, a drinking fountain, bike racks, and a bicycle repair station. The addition of bio-swales further aids in filtering stormwater, contributing to a sustainable and eco-friendly environment.
Landscaping, tree planting, and irrigation systems have been thoughtfully integrated into the project, creating a picturesque and inviting space for visitors to enjoy the natural surroundings. This trailhead’s establishment reflects the city’s commitment to expanding green spaces and promoting an active and healthy lifestyle for its residents.
The Spigel family’s generous land donation was instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. Their support and dedication to the community are commendable and have paved the way for the city’s residents to access and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. The City of San Antonio Parks team played a pivotal role in the trailhead’s design and execution, working tirelessly to ensure a seamless and welcoming experience for all trail users.
District 7’s unwavering support for this project has been instrumental in making the Stanley Spigel Trailhead a reality. The city extends its heartfelt gratitude to all parties involved in this endeavor.
