You know those motorized scooters that you can pay to ride at any corner of downtown San Antonio? Those scooters will be illegal to ride on city sidewalks beginning on Monday, July 1st.
San Antonio City Council passed an ordinance last month in favor of a few new rules for scooter operators. Now, you have to be at least 16 years old to ride and the capacity of each scooter is one rider.
Also, those scooters will be prohibited at several city areas such as the River Walk, Alamo Plaza, La Villita, city parks and trail ways.
Scooter riders will have to follow the rules of the road such as yielding to pedestrians and stopping at red lights and stop signs.
Those who are found in violation of the new rules are subject to be fined up to $500.
