New Permanent Ramps Set to Open on Loop 1604 as Part of North Expansion Project
San Antonio, TX — As part of the ongoing Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be opening two new permanent entrance ramps on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 9 p.m. These ramps are located along the westbound and eastbound lanes of Loop 1604, aiming to improve traffic flow and accessibility in the area.
The new westbound entrance ramp will open just west of Salado Creek and Bitters Road, while the eastbound ramp will be situated east of the current NW Military Highway entrance ramp. With these new ramps, the existing Bitters Road westbound (WB) and NW Military Highway eastbound (EB) entrance ramps will close permanently.
Starting Wednesday evening, drivers will be directed to use these new ramps to access the Loop 1604 WB and EB mainlanes. This change marks another milestone in the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, which is designed to ease congestion and enhance traffic movement across the expanding North Side corridor.
Motorists are advised to plan accordingly, as adjustments may be needed when entering the Loop 1604 mainlanes in the area. TxDOT encourages drivers to stay attentive to new signage and traffic adjustments as they approach these new ramps.
