SAN ANTONIO, TX (November 18, 2024) – After 16 years, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon will bid farewell to San Antonio, paving the way for the SATX Marathon to debut in December 2025. The iconic national running series, which has drawn thousands of participants annually since 2008 with live music throughout its courses, will host its final San Antonio race this December.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series announced its departure through an email to participants, expressing gratitude to the city and its community. “We wish the City of San Antonio and San Antonio Sports all the best, and most importantly, the San Antonio community who has graciously hosted us for 16 years,” said spokesperson Carolyn Wheat. “It is always our goal to deliver the best possible events to our participants, and we look forward to continuing to deliver an amazing set of races this December for everyone that is racing with us.”

A Transformative Partnership

Since its inception in San Antonio, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon has played a significant role in the city’s health and wellness initiatives. City officials and San Antonio Sports acknowledged the impact of the event, crediting it with positioning San Antonio as a premier running destination.

“We are grateful to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series, Ironman International, and other RnR ownership teams for their partnership through the years. The event has been transformative for our community, and we are proud of its legacy,” officials shared.
