Multiple Nightly Closures Announced for Loop 1604 North Expansion Project Across San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — March 25, 2025 — As part of the ongoing Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced a series of nightly closures affecting key sections of Loop 1604 and connecting roadways through late March and early April. These closures are essential for bridge construction, drainage work, deck pours, and utility coordination.

Motorists traveling through the affected areas are urged to plan ahead, follow posted detour signage, and expect delays between 9 or 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on scheduled nights. All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

🔒 NIGHTLY CLOSURES: MARCH 24 – APRIL 4

Bridge Construction at I-10 Interchange

  • Loop 1604 WB frontage road at I-10 interchange

  • Loop 1604 WB exit ramp before I-10
    Detour Access: Vance Jackson Rd or entrance before Eterna Cosmetic Surgery and Carvana.

💧 DRAINAGE WORK: NW MILITARY INTERSECTION

📅 March 24 – March 29 | ⏰ 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.

  • NW Military Highway NB/SB lanes under Loop 1604

  • 1604 WB to EB turnarounds at NW Military
    Detours:

  • NB traffic: EB frontage to Bitters Rd turnaround

  • SB traffic: WB frontage to Lockhill Selma turnaround

🛣️ DECK POUR CLOSURE: LOOP 1604 & I-10 RAMPS

📅 Night of March 24 (9 p.m.) – March 25 (5 a.m.)

  • 1604 EB mainlanes from Vance Jackson to Lockhill Selma

  • I-10 WB ramp to 1604 EB

  • I-10 EB cloverleaf to 1604 EB

  • 1604 WB mainlanes from Lockhill Selma to west of I-10
    Detours:

  • Use frontage roads and Lockhill Selma ramps for re-entry.

🚧 BLANCO ROAD AREA CONSTRUCTION

📅 March 24 – March 28 | ⏰ 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.

  • Blanco Rd NB/SB from 1604 WB frontage to Madera Pkwy

  • 1604 EB mainlanes between Blanco exit and entrance
    Detours:

  • SB travelers: via Huebner to 1604 EB frontage

  • NB travelers: via 1604 WB frontage and Huebner Rd

🚦 VANCE JACKSON INTERSECTION CLOSURE

📅 March 25 – March 29 | ⏰ 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.

  • Loop 1604 EB frontage at Vance Jackson intersection

  • Vance Jackson SB lanes at Loop 1604
    Detours:

  • EB frontage: re-enter via NW Military exit

  • Vance Jackson SB: use turnaround before I-10 to Interplace Rd and Anthem Pkwy

Law enforcement officers will be on-site directing traffic during closure periods. TxDOT reminds drivers to remain alert, follow detour signage, and allow extra travel time when navigating these areas.
