Morgan’s Wonderland Announces $6 Million Expansion for 2024 Season

Morgan’s Wonderland, the world’s first and only theme park designed with special-needs individuals in mind, is set for a groundbreaking $6 million expansion in preparation for its 2024 season. The park, founded by Gordon and Maggie Hartman in honor of their daughter with special needs, Morgan, continues to lead the way in creating a truly inclusive and accessible experience for all.

Major additions to the park include:

4D Cinema in Sensory Village: This unique cinema, located in the park’s Sensory Village, offers a thrilling roller coaster experience for all, including those in wheelchairs. With electric actuators, a custom video screen, and motion options, it provides an immersive experience for all abilities.

Passenger Boat Ride: The covered boat ride, departing from a newly-constructed pier and dock, takes passengers on a smooth cruise around the park’s 8-acre catch-and-release fishing lake. It offers fantastic views of the new zip line crossing the lake.

Rocket’s Sky Flight Adventure – Zip Line: The first-of-its-kind 4-seater zip line is designed to accommodate riders with disabilities and special needs. With a pair of riders sitting back-to-back, it offers a unique experience, complete with room for necessary equipment and restraints.

Jette’s Wonder Bikes: These wheelchair-accessible bikes gently fly in a circular pattern, allowing riders to control the swooping motion with pedals or hand cranks.

The park will temporarily close for four months following its Halloween celebration on October 31st, during which it traditionally hosts “A Wonderland Christmas.” The closure is necessary to facilitate construction.

Richard Pretlow, park president, highlighted the park’s commitment to creating fully-inclusive attractions and facilities. “We’re excited about these additions and updates to an already incredible park that’s known around the globe. We believe guests of all abilities will enjoy them as we pursue our mission of inclusion,” he stated.

Looking ahead to the 2024 season, season passes and annual memberships are available for purchase on the Morgan’s Wonderland website.

Morgan’s Wonderland, located in Northeast San Antonio, continues to be a beacon of inclusivity, bringing people of all abilities together for fun and mutual understanding in an upbeat, non-judgmental environment.
