The Microsoft Store at the Shops at La Cantera will be permanently closing as part of Microsoft’s plan to close down all of their physical stores around the world.
The software and computing company had to temporarily shut down all of their locations in late March due to COVID-19 pandemic. Microsoft has 72 locations in the United States where they showcase Microsoft branded laptops and Surface products as well as hardware and software.
On Friday, the company said this is a “strategic change” for its retail businesses as sales shift to more online orders.
“Our sales have grown online as our product portfolio has evolved to largely digital offerings, and our talented team has proven success serving customers beyond any physical location,” said Microsoft Corporate Vice President David Porter. “We are grateful to our Microsoft Store customers and we look forward to continuing to serve them online and with our retail sales team at Microsoft corporate locations.”
The La Cantera location opened on March 9, 2013 with a special performance from Kelly Clarkson.
