Methodist Healthcare Acquires 18 Texas MedClinic Locations in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Methodist Healthcare has expanded its urgent care network with the acquisition of 18 Texas MedClinic locations across the San Antonio area, strengthening access to walk-in medical care throughout South Texas.

The acquisition is part of HCA Healthcare’s purchase of Texas MedClinic, a network of 40 urgent care centers across the state.

As of Aug. 1, the San Antonio-area clinics have officially transitioned to CareNow Urgent Care, which is part of the Methodist Healthcare network. The move increases Methodist Healthcare’s total number of locations to 35, providing patients with greater access to urgent care services while creating a more connected healthcare system.

“Texas MedClinic has been an important part of the San Antonio community for decades, and we’re proud to build on that legacy,” said Dan Miller, president and CEO of Methodist Healthcare. “By bringing these locations into the Methodist Healthcare family, we’re creating a more connected healthcare experience while ensuring patients have access to the care they need, close to home.”

The newly acquired clinics provide care for children as young as 3 months old, as well as adults and seniors. Patients can continue to visit the clinics for illnesses and injuries that require prompt medical attention but may not warrant a trip to the emergency room.

Methodist Healthcare said patients will continue to enjoy the same convenient services, including walk-in appointments, online reservations, and extended hours seven days a week.

There will be no changes to accepted insurance plans or billing procedures as part of the transition.

Most CareNow locations will remain open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., while the Forum, Wurzbach and Eisenhauer clinics will continue to operate 24 hours a day.

The acquisition reflects Methodist Healthcare’s ongoing investment in expanding access to healthcare across the region while providing patients with seamless connections to its hospitals, specialists and advanced medical services when additional care is needed.
