Mayor Maury Maverick Plaza inside the La Villita Historic Arts Village is about to be looking a bit different in 2021. The plaza will feature three new restaurants by Chef Johnny Hernandez of La Gloria, Chef Elizabeth Johnson of Pharm Table and Chef Steve McHugh of Cured.

Assistant City Manager Lori Houston presented the idea to the city and lead civic meetings in November regarding the new additions to one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Antonio.

The plans detail the construction costs, schedule, events that are planned and the benefit to the area as well as $500,000 in tax revenue for the city.

According to Fisher Heck, “The final overall goal of this culinary concept is to re-activate Maverick Plaza, spurring more locals to engage with this cultural landmark, becoming a catalyst for future revitalization of La Villita.”Â
