Weekend Closures Announced for Loop 1604 North Expansion Project

San Antonio, Texas (October 2, 2025) – Drivers in northwest San Antonio should prepare for significant weekend closures as part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has scheduled both nightly and daytime closures to accommodate bridge construction at the busy Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange.

Nightly Closures

From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Friday, October 3 through Monday, October 6, 2025, the following closures will be in place (weather permitting):

• Loop 1604 eastbound (EB) mainlanes from the exit ramp after La Cantera Parkway to the entrance ramp after NW Military Highway

• Loop 1604 westbound (WB) frontage road from Vance Jackson Road to the I-10 interchange

• Loop 1604 WB mainlanes right lane at the I-10 interchange

• Loop 1604 WB exit ramp just before the I-10 interchange

• I-10 EB mainlanes alternating closure at the Loop 1604 interchange

• I-10 EB frontage road from Via La Cantera to Loop 1604

• I-10 WB frontage road at the Loop 1604 interchange

• I-10 EB to Loop 1604 EB cloverleaf

Law enforcement officers will help direct traffic through intersections as needed.

Daytime Closures

In addition, from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5, the following daytime closures will occur:

• Loop 1604 EB mainlanes from the exit ramp after La Cantera Parkway to the entrance ramp after NW Military Highway

• Loop 1604 WB frontage road from Vance Jackson Road to the I-10 interchange

• Loop 1604 WB mainlanes right lane at the I-10 interchange

• Loop 1604 WB exit ramp just before the I-10 interchange

• I-10 WB frontage road at the Loop 1604 interchange

• I-10 EB to Loop 1604 EB cloverleaf

Detour Information

• Loop 1604 EB Mainlanes: Drivers will exit to the EB frontage road via the Vance Jackson Road exit ramp and re-enter the mainlanes east of NW Military Highway.

• Loop 1604 WB Frontage Road: Motorists will turn around at Vance Jackson, use the EB frontage road, and turn around again at Lockhill Selma before re-entering WB lanes. Access to I-10 EB and WB will be available via Kyle Seale Parkway.

• Loop 1604 WB & I-10 EB Frontage Roads: Drivers will detour via Via La Cantera to the WB frontage road and re-enter Loop 1604 WB.

Additional Closure

TxDOT has also announced that I-410 eastbound mainlanes from Starcrest Drive to I-35 will be closed for steel girder installation during the same period, from 7 p.m. Friday, October 3 through 6 a.m. Monday, October 6.
