SAN ANTONIO (September 5, 2025) – Luminaria is set to debut its latest pop-up art exhibition, The Frida in Us, at The Aiden San Antonio Riverwalk, opening with a public reception on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, from 6–8 p.m. The exhibition, which pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Frida Kahlo through the lens of today’s artists, will remain on display 24/7 through October 10, 2025 with free admission.
A Tribute to Frida Kahlo’s Spirit
Curated by Andrea V. Rivas, Luminaria Fine Art Curator, the exhibition brings together an impressive roster of local talent, including:
Anthony Diaz, Barbara Felix, Damian Di Lisio, Dinah Coakley, Emmanuel Rangel, Feda Zidan, Jorge Blanquet, Karen Faye, Kristina Salinas, Mauro Murillo, Monica Leyva, Werner Mendizabal, Yolanda Rios, and Zando.
Each artist’s work reflects Kahlo’s influence as a cultural icon, exploring themes of resilience, womanhood, and Mexican identity through a modern lens.
“Being part of The Frida in Us exhibition is a profound honor,” said artist Jorge I. Blanquet. “Growing up in Mexico City and sharing both Indigenous and Spanish heritage (like her), I feel a deep personal connection to Frida Kahlo. I’m proud to celebrate her legacy, not only as a remarkable artist, but as a powerful symbol of resilience, womanhood, and Mexican identity.”
