SAN ANTONIO, Texas — As San Antonio-area students prepare to head back to the classroom, several local restaurants are offering family meals, gift card bonuses, after-school treats and kid-friendly dining options aimed at making the transition into the new school year a little easier.

While generations of San Antonio students may remember summer vacation stretching beyond Labor Day, today’s school calendars look much different. Several area districts will welcome students back beginning as early as Aug. 10, meaning families are already preparing for packed schedules of classes, homework, practices and after-school activities.

For parents looking to take dinner off their to-do list or students searching for an after-school treat, several San Antonio-area restaurants have options available throughout August.

Los Barrios Restaurants Offer Back-to-School Gift Card Bonus

Los Barrios, La Hacienda de Los Barrios and Viola’s Ventanas are offering a Back-to-School Gift Card Special throughout August.

Guests who purchase $50 in gift cards will receive a $10 bonus card, while those purchasing $100 in gift cards will receive a $20 bonus card.

The promotion can help families plan ahead for meals during the school year or provide an option for those looking for a gift for teachers, coaches and other school staff.

Additional information and restaurant locations are available at losbarriosrestaurant.com.

Rosario’s Offers Family Meals To Go

Rosario’s ComidaMex & Bar is helping take some of the work out of weeknight dinners with Family Meals To Go designed to feed four to six people.

Families can choose from several options, including El Mejor, The Big Enchilada, Traditional Fajitas, the Chalupa Dinner and Crispy Taco Dinner.

Meals include sides such as rice, beans, tortillas, toppings, salsa and chips, depending on the selection.

Family meals start at $49, with select substitutions available. Pickup and delivery options are available, making the meals convenient for evenings filled with homework, sports practices and other activities.

Crepeccino Offers an After-School Stop

Students looking for a post-class treat or a place to settle in for a study session can head to Crepeccino.

The local café and crêperie offers a combination of sweet and savory crêpes, specialty coffee and European-inspired dishes.

For an after-school sugar boost, the menu also features dessert crêpes, waffles, gelato and milkshakes. Its café-style atmosphere also provides students and families with a casual spot to catch up, work on homework or take a break after the school day.

More information is available at crepeccino.com.

Embers Offers Family-Size Meals for Busy Weeknights

With weeknight schedules filling up again, Embers Wood Fired Restaurants offers family-size catering selections available for pickup or delivery throughout San Antonio.

Muck & Fuss Features $8.95 Kids Meals

Families heading north to New Braunfels can also find kid-friendly dining at Muck & Fuss in the city’s downtown district.

The restaurant’s dedicated kids menu includes mac and cheese, chicken tenders, a cheeseburger, El Niño Taco and grilled cheese.

Kids meals are priced at $8.95 and include a side, beverage and ice cream. The included dessert can also be upgraded to a milkshake for an additional $4.50.

Muck & Fuss is located at 295 E. San Antonio St. in downtown New Braunfels and also features an outdoor biergarten and live music on select nights.
