The City of San Antonio and the Northside Independent School District (NISD) are to take immediate action after a Brandeis High School student was hit by a car while crossing at the crosswalk Friday afternoon (September 7, 2018).
The current two cross walks are unprotected with no lights or signs to stop traffic or to alert traffic that people will be crossing at that designated spot.
NISD spokesperson Barry Perez said that there will be more of a police presence in the area and temporary signs will be installed in the meantime at those two crossing areas.
City Councilman, Manny Pelaez said that the traffic lights were to be installed a year from now but have been prioritized due to the need.
The student is expected to be ok.
