Local Eateries Serving Up Authentic NOLA Flavors This Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras season is officially underway, and two San Antonio favorites are celebrating by bringing the bold, soulful flavors of New Orleans to the Alamo City. Clementine and Smashin Crab are each rolling out festive menus and specials inspired by the Crescent City.
Clementine
New Orleans native and James Beard Award finalist John Russ, executive chef at Clementine, will host the restaurant’s annual Mardi Gras Dinner on Tuesday, February 17. The one-night-only event features a five-course prix-fixe menu priced at $88 per person.
Drawing from his upbringing in New Orleans, Chef Russ presents authentic Creole cuisine elevated with Clementine’s signature global influences. The menu highlights classic NOLA staples, including hearty andouille gumbo, slow-cooked smothered greens, and Southern fried chicken.
Seating is limited for the Mardi Gras Dinner, and reservations are highly encouraged. Guests can book through OpenTable.
Smashin Crab
Smashin Crab is celebrating Mardi Gras across all three San Antonio locations with festive specials running now through Fat Tuesday on February 17. Guests can sip on a two-for-one Hurricane cocktail special or try their luck with a slice of seasonal King Cake, served daily throughout the Mardi Gras season.
The restaurant’s full menu of Cajun and Creole favorites remains available, including seafood boils, the Taste of New Orleans sampler, and NOLA-inspired cocktails, inviting diners to let the good times roll without leaving the city.
Together, Clementine and Smashin Crab are offering San Antonians a true taste of Mardi Gras. From an elegant, one-night-only prix-fixe dinner to daily Creole-inspired celebrations, both eateries bring the flavor and spirit of New Orleans straight to San Antonio.
