With the economy restarting, people visiting restaurants and returning to work. Some people are still in need of food items.

One local church in Converse, the Fountain of Praise Church is lending a helping hand to their neighbors in need with a food basket giveaway.

Pastor Harvey L Hill Sr. said that the church has stock of non-perishable items to hand out during its distribution time on Saturday, May 30 from 9:30 a.m. till 11 a.m. or until they run out. The church is located at 503 Station St. Converse, TX 78109

The church is expecting 50 or so families to show but have a stock up to 75 families.

They’ll be handing out free boxes of food via a drive-thru service with zero stipulations. It’s first come, first served. Someone will walk a box over to the car.

Some of the proceeds for the giveaway came from church members and some sponsors, including Chick-Fil-A franchise on Austin Highway.

The mayor of Converse, Al Suarez is planning on attending at the tail end for the youth recognition at 11 a.m.

The Fountain of Praise – Voices of Women (VOW) are handling the food basket program.
