SAN ANTONIO – James Beard-nominated bakery and café La Panadería will celebrate the grand opening of its newest location in Stone Oak on Wednesday, December 17, marking a major milestone for the locally loved brand and the debut of its first-ever mascot, Don Lino.

The public is invited to attend the grand opening celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new restaurant, located at 1011 N. Loop 1604 E. Festivities will include a live DJ beginning at 11 a.m., a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m., appearances by UTSA Cheerleaders, and special opening-day activities.

The Stone Oak restaurant is La Panadería’s largest location to date, spanning approximately 6,600 square feet and offering 100 dedicated parking spaces. The project represents a $3.5 million investment and has created 100 new jobs for the San Antonio community.

Guests can expect the same signature offerings that have made La Panadería a household name, including authentic Mexican pastries, all-day breakfast, brunch and lunch menus, along with coffee, fresh juices, wine, cocktails, beer, and customizable tortas and salads.

The grand opening also marks the official introduction of Don Lino, La Panadería’s first mascot. Don Lino is a tribute to the generations of bakers who inspired the Cáceres family’s craft and passion for breadmaking. Named after a legendary baker from the brothers’ childhood stories in Mexico City, the character represents tradition, dedication, and the artistry behind every loaf.

With his signature mustache and warm smile, Don Lino symbolizes the early mornings, handcrafted techniques, and cultural heritage that continue to guide La Panadería today. The story of Don Lino was written by José Cáceres’ son, Emiliano Cáceres Manzano, and is available on La Panadería’s website.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet Don Lino for the first time during the Stone Oak ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This opening marks La Panadería’s fifth location in San Antonio. The company also extended special thanks to Karnes County National Bank for its continued support throughout the expansion.

Fans are encouraged to follow La Panadería on social media for sneak peeks and updates on soft opening hours ahead of the grand opening.
