Judge Nelson Wolff declined to reopen bars in Bexar County
Today, Governor Greg Abbott stated today that bars could reopen in counties if their county judge approves beginning October 14.
Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff stated that he has decided not to re-allow to reopen the bars in the county lines. This decision came hours after the governor of Texas allowed bars and similar establishments to reopen at 50% capacity in regions with low COVID-19 hospitalizations.
“At this point, I’m not opting in.” said Wolff in Wednesday night’s briefing.
Wolff would need more time to consult with the local health officials about a possible later date to reopen those businesses.
Gov. Abbott also said that businesses such as movie theaters, zoos, amusement parks, aquariums and bowling alleys can expand capacity to 75% in counties with low COVID-19 hospitalizations beginning October 12th.
