San Antonio, TX โ As spring settles over the city, the sounds of live jazz are once again echoing through one of San Antonioโs most scenic landmarks. The San Antonio Parks Foundation, in partnership with KRTU 91.7 FM, has announced the return of the popular โJazz in the Gardenโ concert series at the historic Japanese Tea Garden in Brackenridge Park.
The free, family-friendly series kicks off Friday, March 27, 2026, and continues on April 10 and May 1, offering guests an evening of live outdoor jazz from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is open to all ages, with a suggested $5 donation supporting local park programming.
Set against the lush greenery and tranquil stone pathways of the Japanese Tea Garden, the concert series blends music and nature into a uniquely San Antonio experience. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and can arrive as early as 5:30 p.m. to secure a spot.
This yearโs lineup highlights a diverse mix of local jazz talent:
- March 27: The Jazz Protagonists, a longtime San Antonio trio known for blending original compositions with classic jazz standards
- April 10: Nina Rodriguez and the Gypsies, delivering a high-energy Latin jazz fusion inspired by global influences
- May 1: The Curtis Calderon Quintet, presenting a tribute to legendary trumpeter Miles Davis with a focus on his iconic 1950s works
The 2026 series also coincides with the 50th anniversary of KRTU 91.7 FM, a station that has served San Antonio since 1976 with a focus on community-driven programming and jazz music.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the Jingu House Cafรฉ, with proceeds supporting the preservation of the garden. Outside food and drinks are not permitted, though leashed pets are welcome.
Located at 3853 N. St. Maryโs Street, the Japanese Tea Garden continues to serve as a cultural and natural gathering space for the community. The return of Jazz in the Garden offers residents and visitors alike a chance to experience live music in one of the cityโs most iconic outdoor settings.
