SAN ANTONIO — InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk is preparing for Día de los Muertos with a month of special dining experiences, rooftop cocktails, hotel packages and a ticketed River Parade viewing party along the San Antonio River Walk.

Throughout October, the downtown luxury hotel will highlight the traditions, flavors and imagery associated with Día de los Muertos through experiences at its restaurants and throughout the property.

One of the featured offerings will be a three-course Water, Wind, Earth and Fire Tasting Menu at Cavalier, the hotel’s signature restaurant. Inspired by the symbolic elements of a traditional ofrenda, the dinner will be available throughout October for $65 per person.

The experience begins with Water, represented by scallop ceviche served with tostada, avocado, candied serrano peppers and aguachile rojo. The Earth & Wind course features Pollo en Mole Humado with mole rojo, fingerling potatoes and cipollini onion.

Dessert represents Fire with a Sugar Skull Cake made with white chocolate, Oreo crumble, coffee ganache and flowers.

Upstairs, the hotel’s High Praise rooftop lounge will get into the spirit with “Spirits in the Sky,” a seasonal collection of mezcal-based cocktails.

The lineup includes the Alamo Sunset, a Mezcal Paloma with grapefruit; Golden Ember, a Mezcal Pineapple Smash with citrus and muddled herbs; and El Fuego Viejo, a Mezcal Old Fashioned combining smoky mezcal, citrus and bitters.

Hotel Packages Put Guests Near the Celebration

Visitors looking to make a staycation or weekend getaway out of the festivities can choose from special Día de los Muertos hotel packages.

Depending on the package, perks include a curated digital guide to celebrations around San Antonio, a pan dulce welcome amenity, discounted valet parking, two tickets to the River Parade viewing party and a late checkout at 1 p.m.

The hotel’s location at 111 E. Pecan St. also puts guests near the heart of downtown San Antonio’s Día de los Muertos activities.

River Parade Viewing Party Set for Oct. 23

The hotel’s celebration will culminate Friday, Oct. 23, with an exclusive viewing party for San Antonio’s annual Day of the Dead River Parade.

Guests will be able to watch the decorated barges travel along the River Walk from the hotel while enjoying live entertainment and other festivities.

General admission to the ticketed event includes reserved seating, a complimentary cocktail, access to a cash bar, live music, Catrinas and complimentary face painting.

A premium experience will also be available with additional culinary offerings, front-row seating and other upgrades.

Tickets start at $97.43.

“There is nothing quite like the energy in San Antonio during Día de los Muertos, and our location puts guests in the very heart of it all,” said Terrah Piggee, director of marketing at InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk. “San Antonio holds such a special place in our hearts, and we are so excited to give our guests a front-row seat to one of Texas’s most breathtaking celebrations where they can honor heritage, savor incredible flavors, and celebrate our city at its absolute finest.”

The Día de los Muertos programming will run throughout October at InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk, 111 E. Pecan St., San Antonio, TX 78205, with the River Parade viewing party taking place Oct. 23.
