There has been multiple sites throughout the city that San Antonio Solid Waste Management set up to properly dispose your Christmas tree whether if it is artificial or not. If the tree is over 6 feet, the city is asking to cut it in half.
Make sure that the tree is free of lights, ornaments, decorations and assure that it is not in a bag before taking it to one of the six sites. They will not be collecting the stands.
So that you know, wreaths, holiday plants like poinsettias and garlands are not being accepted at the disposal sites.
Between January 2 – 31st from 8am – 5pm take your tree to one of the following locations:
🎄 Bitters Brush Recycling Center at 1800 Wurzbach Parkway
🎄 Nelson Gardens at 8963 Nelson Rd.
🎄 SWMD Highway 90 Center at 5450 Castroville Rd.
Between January 2 – 16th from 8am – 5pm (Tues. – Fri.), & Sun. 8am – noon at the following locations:
🎄 Culebra drop-off center at 7030 Culebra Rd.
🎄 Frio City Rd. drop off center at 1531 Frio City Rd.
🎄 Rigsby Rd. drop off center at 2755 Rigsby Rd.
Two weeks after all of the trees have been disposed of, the city will turn them to mulch that will be available for free while supplies last available at the Bitters Brush and Nelson Gardens location.
For those who don’t have a truck or a way to haul the tree, the city will collect the trees if they are cut up and placed inside the green organics cart and the lid closes. Just please don’t set the tree on the curb because it won’t be collected. If the tree is set on the curb, you could be issued a fine.
