Hotel Contessa to Host Flourish & Femme Art Fair on March 30, Showcasing Local Female Artists
SAN ANTONIO, TX – March 4, 2025 – Hotel Contessa is set to transform into a vibrant celebration of female artistry, mentorship, and community as it hosts the Flourish & Femme Art Fair on Sunday, March 30, 2025. This free public event will spotlight over a dozen local women artists, including renowned San Antonio artist Kathy Sosa, while fostering intergenerational mentorship between emerging and established creatives.
An Artistic Experience Like No Other
Bringing together art, flowers, and femme energy, Flourish & Femme will feature:
🎨 A Stunning Floral-Themed Art Installation – The event unveils a one-of-a-kind exhibition featuring work from artists like Kathy Sosa, Stephanie Pena Frost, Mary Carmen Sessions, Geri Garcia, and Ludi Smith. This immersive display, launching on March 30, will remain at Hotel Contessa through June 2025, with select guest rooms transformed into intimate galleries showcasing flower-inspired pieces.
📖 Book Signing by Kathy Sosa – The celebrated artist will sign copies of her latest book, Mestizaje: The Feminist Art of Kathy Sosa, while her iconic Contessa painting—housed at Hotel Contessa—serves as inspiration for attending student artists.
🖌️ Mentorship for Young Artists – Eight student artists from CAST Schools will be paired with professional artists to create and display their own works. This mentorship will culminate in a follow-up student showcase on April 27.
🍫 Culinary Delights & Craft Spirits – The event will include chocolate tastings from award-winning female chocolatier Chef Alessia Benavides of CHOCOLATL and craft tequila samples from Mijenta, a female-owned Texas distillery. Guests can also dine at Ambler, Hotel Contessa’s on-site restaurant, which will offer a menu of creative plates and cocktails during the event.
Supporting a Cause: Benefiting Magdalena House
Flourish & Femme isn’t just about celebrating creativity—it’s about giving back. Proceeds from art sales will be donated to Magdalena House, a San Antonio-based nonprofit providing safe shelter, education, and support for mothers and children escaping abuse and danger.
