SAN ANTONIO, TX (November 28, 2025) — The holiday season along the San Antonio River Walk is about to shine even brighter as Hotel Contessa launches its first annual tree lighting ceremony during the Ford Holiday River Parade on Thursday, November 28. The riverfront hotel is rolling out a full slate of festive programming, from parade watch parties and VIP dining experiences to holiday workshops, brunches, and more.

Front-Row Holiday Magic on the River Walk

From 5 to 7 p.m., Hotel Contessa will host its official Ford Holiday River Parade Watch Party, offering guests a front-row view of one of San Antonio’s most beloved seasonal traditions. Before the parade reaches the property, attendees can enjoy an array of holiday-themed entertainment including performances by mariachis and a student ensemble, a holiday DJ, local vendors, photos with Santa, wine tastings, hot cocoa, sweet treats, and a crafting station for children and families.

• General Seating – $50
  Reserved river-level seating with full access to all pre-party festivities.

• Front-Row Seating – $65
  Closest to the water for the most immersive parade experience.

• Marriage Island VIP Seating – $85
  Unobstructed river views, an upgraded chair, valet parking, and a complimentary beverage.

A special highlight of the evening will be the hotel’s inaugural tree lighting, held on the River Terrace at approximately 6:30 p.m., just before the parade floats reach the property shortly after 7 p.m.

Guests looking to elevate their experience can attend the Ford Holiday VIP Terrace Party from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on the second-floor terrace. Priced at $75 per person (21+ only), the package includes:

Hotel Contessa will keep the festivities flowing with several additional seasonal events:

“Texas Twinkle” Holiday Brunch + SA Philharmonic | Dec. 6, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Guests can savor elevated brunch dishes—including eggnog French toast and brisket hash—alongside a festive spiked hot cocoa bar. The San Antonio Philharmonic string quartet will perform, and a holiday market featuring local vendors will be set up along the River Walk patio.

Cookies and Cocktails Workshop | Dec. 6, 6:30–8 p.m.

Guests can enjoy a hands-on holiday cookie decorating class led by Sift & Sip, complete with a craft cocktail pairing. Limited seats are available for $75.

Ambler Holiday Dinner on the River Walk | Dec. 24 & 25, 5–8 p.m.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Ambler will serve a festive seasonal menu featuring prime rib, roasted turkey, seared salmon, and decadent holiday desserts.
