NEW BRAUNFELS, TX (December 10, 2025) The iconic Faust Hotel, a fixture of downtown New Braunfels for nearly a century, is preparing to reopen its doors in spring 2026 following an extensive multi-million-dollar renovation. Led by Lark Hospitality in partnership with the Duettra family and a group of key investors, the project restores and reimagines the 1929 landmark for a new era while preserving its storied heritage.
Located at 240 S. Seguin Ave., the revived Faust Hotel will debut 45 thoughtfully designed guest rooms, a signature restaurant and bar, a speakeasy, refreshed outdoor areas, and enhanced gathering spaces.
Modern Amenities, Historic Soul
Originally opened as The Travelerโs Hotel, the property has long been recognized as a local, Texas, and national historic landmark. The renovation honors that legacy, integrating original Spanish Colonial Revival features with modern comforts.
Guest rooms will be outfitted with king beds, premium linens, walk-in showers, custom vanities, Nespresso machines, retro Frigidaire mini fridges, 55-inch streaming-enabled televisions and complimentary wifi. The room lineup includes six corner suites, which can be upgraded into three-bedroom accommodations with separate living spaces, and nine junior suites.
Throughout the renovation process, designers worked to preserve historic elements including the original stair tiles, doors, front desk, lobby phone booth, sconces and the signature exterior fountain. The lobbyโs preserved tilework served as inspiration for the refreshed color palette, blending old-world character with contemporary flair.
Uncovered brick walls and cement columns have been integrated into the design, complementing new additions such as expressive furnishings, ornate crown moldings, bold wallpaper and eclectic artwork.
โWe are honored to be the next stewards of The Faust Hotel,โ said owner Andy Duettra. โThis hotel means a great deal to the people of New Braunfels and we have been working diligently to bring The Faust up to modern standards for future generations. We look forward to opening our doors soon.โ
New Culinary Concepts
When it reopens, The Faust will introduce Wilhelm & Werner, a Texas Brasserie influenced by European dining traditions. The restaurant will feature a skylit dining room, indoor-outdoor fireplace, patio seating and a stylish bar and lounge, accommodating up to 130 guests across all spaces.
Beneath the restaurant, Walterโs will debut as the hotel’s speakeasy, an intimate cocktail lounge inspired by the Prohibition era during which the hotel was first established. Additional food and beverage details will be released in the coming months.
The hotel will also launch the Prince Solms Lobby Bar, which will service both the lobby and the refreshed Magnolia Patio, offering guests and locals a relaxed, historic setting to gather.
Event Space for Community and Celebrations
The Faust Hotel aims to serve as a destination for gatherings both large and small. Its 2,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom, updated with the same design sensibility seen throughout the property, can host up to 110 guests for weddings, executive meetings, celebrations and holiday events.
A Community-Driven Restoration
The redevelopment of The Faust is the result of a wide-ranging collaboration between the Duettra family and numerous longtime New Braunfels families and supporters. Contributors include Bonnie (Borchers) Duettra; Craig and Beth (DeViney) Hall; Jeff and Kim (Kuhlmann) Reilly; Rick and Carol (Garza) Hansen; Ron and Taye (Kuhlmann) Kruselski; Glen and Karen Daniel; Rich and Diane Duran; David and Monica Hamer; Jeff and Marcie Rowe; Kash and Carrie Sethi; and Nishi and Kimberly Vakharia.
