Here’s what to expect when bars to open Friday, May 22

On Monday, Gov. Greg Abbott announced that bars and clubs can reopen with 25% capacity.

Here’s what you need to know before you go out.

  • Dancing and other close contact is discouraged.
  • Interactive areas such as arcades should be closed / inoperable.
  • Bars should seat customers at tables.
  • Seated parties to have no more than 6 people per table.
  • Tables to be socially distant 6-foot away from the closest group. Perhaps placing signs on unoccupied tables between parties.
  • Customers cannot sit or order from the bar.
  • Bars to provide disposable menus, single use cups, plates, silverware.
  • The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) will be enforcing and making sure that bars comply.
  • In the event that an establishment doesn’t follow the guidelines, TABC had the authority to suspend bars’ licenses.
