H-E-B to giveaway 250,000 reusable bags in celebration of Earth Day

San Antonio based grocery giant H-E-B will be giving out 250,000 reusable shopping bags in celebration of Earth Day this year according to a press release. Customers can claim one free bag at any Texas

H-E-B, Central Market, Joe V’s Smart Shop, and Mi Tienda stores. If customers desire additional reusable bags, they can purchase them for $1.50 each. This years’ tote message is “Our Texas, Our Future.” This is H-E-B’s commitment to help increase awareness and education around sustainability efforts that help preserve land, water, and air in our great state.

Since 2008, H-E-B has given out over three million reusable shopping bags to help minimize plastic bags in circulation. This year more than 600 elementary schools across the Lone Star state collected over four million plastic bags part of H-E-B’s annual School Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge.

The schools that collected the most plastic bags will be getting H-E-B gift cards as prizes.

The schools in the San Antonio region that won are Randall Fields Elementary, Hopkins Elementary, and Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary.
