H-E-B applies purchasing limits on meat products

Just days after the San Antonio based grocery giant H-E-B lifted regulations on certain food items, they’re reapplying purchasing limits on meats once again.

This comes after multiple nationwide meat packing plants where employees tested positive for COVID-19.

H-E-B will be protecting their supply chain with the limitations on how many items a customer can purchase in one transaction. Those limits apply to ground beef, beef products, poultry, pork and turkey.

Customers in San Antonio are limited to one package of ground beef and two packages total (not two of each) of chicken, beef, pork or turkey.


Food items (applies to San Antonio locations)

  • Ground beef – limit 1 package
  • Beef, chicken, pork, turkey – limit 2 packages, combined total (not two of each)

Non-food items (applies to all H-E-B stores)

  • Acetaminophen – 2 items total (includes baby, trial and travel sizes, OTC)
  • H-E-B Acid Controller/Famotidine and Pepcid 50ct and larger – Limit 1
  • H-E-B Acid Controller/Famotidine and Pepcid smaller than 50ct – Limit 2
  • Baby wipes – 2 items
  • Disinfecting & antibacterial sprays – 2 items
  • Disinfecting & antibacterial wipes – 2 items
  • Trial and travel size disinfecting & antibacterial sprays/wipes – 2 items
  • Liquid bleach – 2 items
  • Hand sanitizer – 4 items
  • Hand soap – 4 items
  • Aloe Vera – 2 items (Digestive Health, Skincare/Suncare, Healthy Living)
  • Hydrogen peroxide – 2 items
  • Rubbing (Isopropyl) Alcohol/swabs – 2 items
  • First Aid and Cleaning Gloves – 2 items
  • Masks – 2 items
