Girls can now join San Antonio chapter of Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts are now welcoming girls to join in on learning and development starting on February 1st. In celebration of the movement, a kickoff party will be held at the Boy Scouts of America Alamo Area Council service center located at 2226 NW Military Highway.

“The Alamo Area Council might get 200 new girls in the Scouts BSA program and we might get 20,000, but we do know we are all in this together in service of youth and excited to welcome them and their families into Scouts BSA come February 1, 2019,” said Michael de los Santos, Scout Executive, Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council.

Activities will include games, door prizes as well as pizza and donuts stated in the press release.

“The Alamo Area Council works alongside our charter partners and over 5,000 adult volunteer leaders to make significant investments of our time and resources to provide hope. This hope to a Scout youth and their families is the ‘peace of mind’ that their unique Scouting outdoor adventure will make their future brighter,” said Angel Martinez, PR Director with the local Boy Scouts.

“Communities need unity to thrive. I am excited to have the opportunity to work together with so many great organizations in this area to make a positive impact on the lives of all our youth. The investments we make with our time, energy and resources to build the character and leadership of our youth is a proven way to strengthen our future. Join us in the Scouting movement to positively impact the lives of all youth!” said Jim Jeffery, President, Alamo Area Council, BSA.
