Free Spring Family Fish Day Reels in Fun at Brackenridge Park

SAN ANTONIO — Families across San Antonio are invited to cast a line and celebrate the season as the Brackenridge Park Conservancy hosts its inaugural Spring Family Fish Day on Saturday, April 11, at Brackenridge Park.

The free, family-friendly event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Joske Pavilion, offering a hands-on outdoor experience designed to introduce young anglers to the joys of fishing. Building on the success of the Conservancy’s popular fall fishing program, this new spring edition expands opportunities for families to connect with nature in one of the city’s most treasured green spaces.

In partnership with the Fin Addict Angler Foundation and the City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department, the event will provide a welcoming environment for beginners and experienced anglers alike. No fishing license is required, making it easy for families to participate.

A limited number of loaner fishing poles and light equipment will be available for children while supplies last. Participants ages 5 to 16 can also register for free angler lessons led by the Fin Addict Angler Foundation, giving young attendees a chance to learn the basics of fishing from experienced instructors.

Adding to the excitement, a special youth contest will award prizes for the first fish caught and the biggest fish of the day, with winners receiving fishing poles.

The Spring Family Fish Day highlights the Conservancy’s ongoing efforts to provide accessible, educational, and outdoor programming for the community while encouraging families to explore and enjoy San Antonio’s natural spaces.
