Flip Side Record Parlor owner dead at 47

Southside record parlor, Flip Side Record Parlor has been part of the community since 1972. Now the business is up in the air since the passing of the store’s owner, Clarisa Peña, who passed away Monday, Jan. 13th.

The original owner, Doug Leasein left the shop to Clarisa Peña after he had passed away. Clarissa’s daughter, Jessica Erevia had worked in the record store since birth.

Clarissa was battling colon cancer. Erevia said that she was getting better but then it “metastasized” to other organs such as her liver, lungs and brain.

Clarissa didn’t leave a will but a decision has to be made whether or not to keep the store operating.

Visitation for Peña will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, January 19, with a celebration of life service at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapel South, 1700 SE Military Dr. A rosary will follow at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, January 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 236 E. Petaluma Blvd.

My heart and prayers go out to the Pena family. Clarisa Pena, Owner of the long existing FlipSide Record Parlor, passed…
