SAN ANTONIO, TX — Get ready for a day of tail-wagging fun and colorful kites filling the sky at McAllister Park. The San Antonio Parks Foundation has announced the return of Fest of Tails, a free, family- and dog-friendly festival celebrating pets, parks, and the great outdoors.

The popular event takes place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. near the dog park and pump track at McAllister Park, 13102 Jones Maltsberger Road. Admission is free and open to all ages.

“Fest of Tails is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Mary Jane Verette, President and CEO of the San Antonio Parks Foundation. “The festival is a harbinger of spring renewal as we celebrate our love of pets, parks, and the great outdoors. It’s a day full of fun, activity, and connection, and we can’t wait to see everyone at McAllister Park.”

A Celebration of Pets, Parks, and Play

Back by popular demand, Ghisallo Cycling’s adventure course returns, offering interactive outdoor fun for thrill-seekers of all ages. Attendees can also enjoy kite flying, dog-friendly activities, artisan vendors, and hands-on experiences throughout the park.

Adding to the excitement this year, McAllister Park now features a new outdoor fitness station, funded by bond monies. The station allows visitors of all ages to enjoy an active workout while surrounded by the park’s natural beauty. The addition reflects the city’s continued commitment to accessible green spaces that promote health and wellness for the entire community.

Sham-Rock the Runway

One of the festival’s most anticipated traditions is the Pooch Parade & Costume Contest, and this year’s theme is St. Patrick’s Day. Pet owners are encouraged to dress their pups in festive green attire, lucky charms, leprechaun hats, rainbows, or pots of gold.

Participants can register before 11:00 a.m. on event day, but early online registration is now live and encouraged to guarantee a spot in the parade. Expect creative costumes, wagging tails, and plenty of lucky smiles.
