Fermenteria Launches Unique Alcoholic Beverage, Opens Taproom in San Antonio
San Antonio, TX (March 18, 2024) โย Fermenteria, the city’s newest taproom, has officially opened its doors at 2243 East Commerce, San Antonio, TX 78203, introducing hard water kefir to the local market. This innovative alcoholic beverage, naturally fermented and teeming with probiotics, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, offers San Antonians a refreshing and health-conscious alternative to traditional libations.
Owned by entrepreneur Jade Sheppard, Fermenteria’s journey began with a serendipitous encounter with hard water kefir in Nicaragua. Inspired by its light, effervescent nature and buzz without the dreaded hangover, Sheppard embarked on a mission to bring this unique drink to Central Texas. After two years of collaboration with brewmasters in the region, Fermenteria perfected its formula and method for commercial brewing.
“I was astonished by the delightful taste and effects of hard water kefir,” says owner Jade Sheppard. “Sharing this remarkable beverage with the Central Texas community is a dream come true. With our doors now open, Fermenteria aims to become a staple for those seeking a fantastic, healthy alcoholic alternative.”
Crafted with care and attention to detail, every ingredient at Fermenteria is chosen for its quality and flavor profile. Water kefir beverages boast a spectrum of naturally occurring enzymes, probiotics, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, supporting gut health, metabolism, and immune function. With 5% alcohol, zero sugar, and just 100 calories per serving, Fermenteria’s offerings include enticing flavors such as Pineapple Lemongrass, Brut, Hibiscus Sangria, Paloma, Thai Lime Coconut, and Orange Elderflower. Additionally, the taproom features a selection of non-alcoholic options, including Pineapple Coconut, Butterfly Pea Tea Lemonade, and Strawberry Lime Tulsi.
Operating Wednesday through Sunday, Fermenteria invites guests to savor its creations from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 4 p.m. to midnight on Fridays, 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. In addition to enjoying drinks in the taproom, patrons can purchase growlers to-go or bring their own containers for refills. Fermenteria plans to expand its reach by bottling its product for local grocery and convenience stores in the near future.
Committed to community engagement, Fermenteria will host free monthly events, with proceeds benefiting local nonprofits. The inaugural event, scheduled for Saturday, April 13th, from 6 p.m. to midnight, will support theย Thrive Youth Center, a shelter serving LGBTQ+ youth in San Antonio.
