SAN ANTONIO, TX (June 18, 2025) – As part of the ongoing I-35 Northeast Expansion (NEX) Project, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced an extended closure of the southbound I-35 frontage road from Corporate Drive/FM 1518 to Evans Road to facilitate major construction operations, including steel girder and cap work.

Begins: 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025

Ends: 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025
During this period, motorists traveling through the Schertz and Selma areas should expect detours and plan for additional travel time.
🚧 Detour Routes:
Westbound Corporate Drive/FM 1518 to Evans Road:

Turn right onto NB I-35 frontage road toward Schertz Parkway

Turn left onto SB I-35 frontage road

Enter SB I-35 mainlanes via the next available entrance ramp

Take Exit 173 (Retama/Olympia/Forum Parkway)

Continue on SB I-35 frontage road

Use Olympia Parkway bridge to access NB I-35 frontage road

Continue north to reach Evans Road
Eastbound Corporate Drive/FM 1518 to Evans Road:

Continue onto NB I-35 frontage road

Turn left heading north toward Schertz Parkway

Turn left at Schertz Parkway to access SB I-35 frontage road

Enter SB I-35 mainlanes via the next available entrance ramp
