A founding member of renowned bands Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek, Thile has collaborated with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, Fiona Apple, Brad Mehldau, and many others. He also served as the host of the popular public radio program Live from Here with Chris Thile (formerly A Prairie Home Companion).
Thile’s music is an intricate tapestry of genre-blending composition, dazzling technique, and heartfelt storytelling. His recent work includes a national tour with Nickel Creek following their 2023 album Celebrants, and a biographical orchestral piece titled ATTENTION!. He’s also the creative force behind The Energy Curfew Music Hour, a musical variety podcast featuring his band Punch Brothers and co-creator Claire Coffee.
Earlier this year, Thile premiered his latest solo show The Manhattan Variations in New York City, an introspective performance set in a Lower East Side cocktail bar that explores themes of identity and self-discovery through music.
San Antonio audiences will have the rare opportunity to witness Chris Thile’s virtuosity, charm, and genre-bending brilliance live on stage at the Tobin Center this January. This is one performance that music lovers won’t want to miss.
