Sylvia Fernandez who owns Alamo City Music Hall & Club posted to social media with heavy heart the announcement of closing the popular music venue downtown San Antonio on February 24th.
The venue closure is due to Texas Research and Technology planning a $227 million tech redevelopment on the site that will include a military research facility, commercial lab, office space, food hall and a hotel.
The SAMH had opened in March of 2010 and brought all types of music and fans through their doors. Before becoming Alamo City Music Hall they were known as Backstage Live.
The SAMH thanked their customers, staff, bands and promoters in the post.
Fernandez soon hopes to find a new spot for to hold live music concerts in the future. She said that when she does re-open that she will welcome any bands interested and will host a big grand opening celebration.
