On Thursday, May 21, 2020 till Saturday, May 23rd San Antonians can help and give back to their community by donating blood.
Blood is in critical need and could help prevent a secondary public health emergency.
The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center along with the City of San Antonio are hosting the blood drive at the Alamodome with an appointment only.
To make an appointment, visit the website: https://southtexasblood.org/alamodome
For every blood donation made during the event, $5 will be donated to the San Antonio Food Bank courtesy of Silverado Event Center.
You don’t leave empty handed. All presenting donors will recieve a gift card to H-E-B and you’ll be able to earn points with the STBTC Rewards program.
So why at the Alamodome some may ask? It has a large space to help spread out donor stations, walk-ways, make check-in easier and abide by the social distancing guidelines. Masks are encouraged and if you don’t have one, don’t worry they’ll provide one at check-in.
Hand sanitizers will be stationed throughout the process.
Staff members will be wearing gloves and sanitizing surfaces, chairs and other objects that are high touch points.
Those who don’t feel well or show symptoms of COVID-19 are asked to stay home and not attend. Staff has been instructed to do the same.
For more information on how STBTC are keeping their donors and everyone safe, they’ve established a website with additional information.
