Disco Alfresco Moves to Historic Sunken Garden Theater for 2026 Summer Season
SAN ANTONIO – One of San Antonio’s favorite summer traditions is dancing into an exciting new chapter. Disco Alfresco is relocating to the historic Sunken Garden Theater for its ninth season, bringing nine themed outdoor dance parties to one of the city’s most iconic venues while introducing a new $5 admission price.
Presented by SoundCream in partnership with the Brackenridge Park Conservancy, the 2026 series will take place every Thursday from June 4 through July 30, transforming the open-air amphitheater into a vibrant outdoor dance floor celebrating music, community and culture.
For the past eight summers, Disco Alfresco has drawn thousands of people to Pearl Park and Hemisfair for free weekly dance parties under the stars. This year’s move to the Sunken Garden Theater marks the event’s most ambitious venue yet.
Originally carved into a limestone quarry during the 1930s, the Sunken Garden Theater has welcomed legendary performances throughout its history, including the San Antonio Symphony, the Civic Opera and music icon Carlos Santana.
Running from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. each Thursday, the series will showcase an eclectic mix of genres reflecting San Antonio’s diverse musical influences. Guests can expect evenings dedicated to disco, house, reggae, cumbia, amapiano, Afrobeat, dancehall, R&B, Tejano and Latin music, with each week featuring a unique theme and lineup of regional DJs.
June Schedule
The season kicks off on June 4 with R&B Rodeo, featuring local DJs Catwalk and Jacqs. On June 11, Soul Train brings an evening of disco, soul, funk and boogie with Work Husbands, featuring Houston DJs Ryan Holloway and Senseiquis.
The June 18 celebration, 4PM in Soweto, honors Juneteenth with amapiano, Afrobeat and South African rhythms in a celebration of freedom, followed by House Arrest on June 25, showcasing local DJs LZRCAT, Cura, Lyrata and San Jose for a night dedicated to house music.
July Schedule
July opens with Perreo Picnic on July 2, featuring DJs Suxxy Puxxy and DragonnQueen from Austin. Boogie Nights follows on July 9 with Austin’s DJ Boogietraxx spinning disco and house favorites.
On July 16, Island Heat brings dancehall, reggae, Caribbean and global rhythms to the theater with DJ Jamie Dred. Guests are encouraged to bring flags representing their heritage for the celebration.
Houston’s Saynt Chris takes over on July 23, while the season concludes on July 30 with Cumbia Rave, featuring DJ Helios from Austin and an energetic mix of cumbia, Tejano and Latin hits.
Admission is $5 plus applicable fees, making the event one of San Antonio’s most affordable summer entertainment options. Free parking will be available, and attendees are welcome to bring their own coolers. The event is open to all ages and is designed to be family-friendly.
