Curfew at San Antonio parks to be lifted Thursday

It’s almost time to stake out those campsites for Easter at select San Antonio parks. The City of San Antonio will be lifting their park curfew for Easter starting at 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 18th.

Hundreds of locals have an annual tradition of camping out for Easter weekend at one of the local spots. This time of the year encourages residents to get outdoors and make memories. Officials do want people to do their part and help keep their parks looking good by properly disposing their trash and recyclables.

The Parks and Recreation Department also wants to remind people that no glass containers are allowed at any of the city parks and food should be disposed in trash bins. Campers are also urged to bring their own trash bags and pick up after themselves when they leave.

The curfew goes back in to affect on Easter Sunday, April 21st at 11pm for the following parks:

  • Brackenridge at 3700 N. St. Mary’s (excludes Brackenridge Parking Facility)
  • Eisenhower at 19399 N.W. Military Highway
  • J Street at 3500 J Street
  • McAllister at 13102 Jones Maltsberger
  • Roosevelt at 331 Roosevelt  Ave.
  • San Pedro at 1315 San Pedro Ave.
  • O.P. Schnabel at 9606 Bandera Rd.
  • Southside Lions at 3100 Hiawatha
  • Southside Lions East at 3900 Pecan Valley
  • Woodlawn Lake at 1103 Cincinnati (excludes the Island House and gym areas)

People usually mark their spaces and chain their belongings to trees, tables, grills, etc. Fire up the grill, pitch the tent and turn up the radio. What is your annual Easter tradition?
