CONVERSE, TX — November 6, 2025 — The Converse Police Department has unveiled the official design of its new badges — a project months in the making that captures the city’s history, pride, and the department’s deep connection to the community it serves.
Each element of the newly designed badge carries symbolic meaning, thoughtfully crafted to reflect Converse’s legacy, values, and the men and women in uniform who protect and serve the city every day.
⭐ A Badge Built on Purpose and Pride
At the heart of the design is a five-point star, representing the department’s five core values — Integrity, Honesty, Fairness, Courage, and Compassion. The star also pays homage to the Lone Star of Texas, tying the badge to both state pride and the enduring tradition of Texas law enforcement.
Other features include:
-
🚂 Train & Memorial: The train honors Converse’s origins as a Southern Pacific Railroad depot established in 1877 and pays tribute to Major Converse, the railroad’s chief engineer. The Purple Heart memorial within the design honors military service members and their sacrifice.
-
✈️ Fighter Jet: A symbol of the city’s close relationship with Randolph Air Force Base and the aviation community that continues to shape Converse’s identity.
-
🦅 Eagle & U.S. Flags: Iconic emblems of strength, vigilance, and patriotism that represent the department’s duty and unwavering commitment to the nation and its people.
-
🏈 Goalposts: A subtle tribute to Texas football culture and Judson High School, celebrating the school’s enduring role as a source of community pride.
🎖️ Badge Progression by Rank
The new design also reflects the department’s growth and leadership progression:
-
Officer: True silver badge
-
Sergeant & Detective: Silver badge with gold accents
-
Lieutenant & Captain: Gold badge with silver accents
-
Chief: True gold badge
Each officer’s badge number will remain consistent throughout their career, signifying continuity and honor in service.
💙 A Symbol of Heritage and Service
According to the department, the new badge is more than a uniform accessory — it is a symbol of Converse’s heritage, unity, and shared purpose.
“This new badge represents who we are — our history, our community, and our commitment to serve with pride and purpose,” the department shared in its announcement.
The Converse Police Department plans to begin introducing the new badges in the near future, marking an important milestone in its continued dedication to growth, professionalism, and community trust.
