In continuous efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, the city of San Antonio along with Bexar County will be closing all parks for the upcoming Labor Day weekend. The closure is effective September 4th at 11:59 p.m. till Tuesday, September 8 at 5 a.m.
โWhile we’re seeing a slight improvement in our health indicators and metrics, we must stay the course and continue to follow the guidance of our health professionals,” noted Homer Garcia III, Director of San Antonio Parks and Recreation. “Temporarily closing parks encourages the community to stay home, wear face coverings, and practice physical distancing. Avoiding gatherings with people outside your immediate household is still very important. Our behaviors now will impact our local conditions later this fall.”
All outdoor activities at the parks except for trail ways in the city however the County trail way’s will be closed except for Howard Peak Greenway Trail System which passes through Rodriguez Park (Leon Creek Trail) and Comanche/Covington Park (Salado Creek Trail).
The use of trailways for outdoor exercise is ok as long as 6-foot social distancing is maintained.
