City of San Antonio proclaims “National Single Parent Day” with local non-profit Driving Single Parents, Inc.

A local 501(c)3 nonprofit in San Antonio, Driving Single Parents, Inc. are out changing lives of single parents who are struggling to get around. This organization founded by Cindy Witteman, the CEO and founder of Driving Single Parents, Inc. and her team have a passion of giving back and helping single parents regain their independence.

This organization celebrating six years have successfully changed the lives of many single parents with a free reliable vehicle at no cost to the recipient. These single parents have praised Driving Single Parents, Inc. with the wheels to get around to doctors appointments, sports practice, school, work and many other necessary stops along the way.

While some of us take our mode of transportation for granted, the people who are happy to obtain wheels through this provider had struggled to get around and not to mention their offspring(s) through public transit, or ride share services. The cost of that alone could rack up both time and money. On top of the rising costs of other necessities to get by in this life such as housing, food, water, electricity, health care, child care and other means could make it even more difficult for a single parent to obtain a goal of getting their own set of wheels.

It was on March 21, 2023, that the City of San Antonio and Driving Single Parents, Inc. came together to raise awareness over the challenges single parents experience due to not having a stable form of transportation. In the proclamation signed on March 21, 2023 by Ron Nirenberg, Mayor of San Antonio highlights National Single Parent Day to be recognized. In the proclamation,ย  Whereas states “In honor of this observance, Driving Single Parents, Inc. will be providing a car to a single parent in need to help them strive forward towards success.”

If you’re a struggling single parent or know of one, please let them know about this program. Have them fill out the form to request assistance from DSP. Due note though, they are a small non-profit organization with limited means and not all who apply will be provided assistance. There are certain qualifications one must meet to qualify for the program. All applicants within Bexar County must have a valid Texas driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain car insurance.

Another milestone! Huge thank you to the City of San Antonio, City Council, and Mayor Ron Nirenberg for this special…
