The San Antonio Parks and Recreation just announced park curfew will be lifted for select city public parks for the Easter holiday. The curfew will be lifted beginning Thursday, April 6th at 11pm and will resume back again at 11pm on Sunday, April 9th. The San Antonio Park Police will be patrolling all areas.

Overnight camping will be allowed at the following City parks:

  • ย *Brackenridge Park, 3700 N. St. Maryโ€™s (excludes Brackenridge Parking Garages, and areas within the current wildlife management zone)
  • *NEW! Brackenridge Park, First Tee, 915 E. Mulberry (beginning Friday, April 7 at 3 p.m.)
  • *Brackenridge Park, Lions Field, 2809 Broadway
  • McAllister Park, 13102 Jones Maltsberger
  • MLK Park, 3503 Martin Luther King Dr.
  • Roosevelt Park, 331 Roosevelt Ave.
  • San Pedro Springs Park, 1315 San Pedro Ave.
  • O.P. Schnabel Park, 9606 Bandera Rd.
  • Southside Lions Park, 3100 Hiawatha
  • Southside Lions Park East, 3900 Pecan Valley
  • *Woodlawn Lake Park, 1103 Cincinnati (excludes the Island House and gym areas)

The City of San Antonio Public Works and Parks and Recreation reminds campers to be mindful of their trash. There are trash bins and recycling bins available at all of the parks. No glass containers allowed. Food waste should be disposed of in trash cans. To help support trash management and from littering more, guests are urged to bring their own trash bags and remove any trash at the end of their stay. To help support proper trash management, Park Stewardship team as well as volunteers will be handing out extra trash bags and promoting recycling opportunities.

โ€œWeโ€™re excited to continue our cityโ€™s Easter tradition by allowing camping at select parks over the holiday weekend. Families, friends and neighbors can enjoy spending time together, outdoors, in our cityโ€™s beautiful green spaces.โ€ said Homer Garcia III, Director of Parks and Recreation. โ€œWe encourage visitors to do their part to ensure our parks remain clean by disposing of litter and recyclables properly. Whatever you pack into the park, please remember to pack it out.โ€ During 2022, Easter weekend visitors disposed of 19 tons of trash and 5 tons of recycling in Brackenridge Park alone.

On another note, the wildlife management team will be doing ongoing activities at Brackenridge Park and Woodlawn Lake Park. These activities will include loud noises from clapper boards to pyrotechnics. Campers at these locations may hear noises that resemble fireworks. This is for bird deterrent and has been approved by the USDA Wildlife Services Division.
