City of San Antonio Hosts Free Landfill Day this Saturday, April 13

San Antonio, TX – The City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) is extending a warm invitation to its customers for a free landfill day event scheduled for this Saturday, April 13th, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This initiative aims to provide residents with a convenient opportunity to dispose of bulky items and household waste responsibly.

The event will be held at two landfill locations:
– Republic Services Landfill – 7000 IH 10 E, 78219
– Waste Management Landfill – 8611 Covel Road, 78252

SWMD customers are required to bring a valid picture ID along with a copy of their most recent CPS Energy bill demonstrating payment of the Cityโ€™s environmental fee. Additionally, all loads must be securely covered with a tarp, and customers are strongly encouraged to wear safety vests for their protection.

Accepted materials for disposal include household bulky items such as appliances, furniture, mattresses, carpet, fencing material, water heaters, toilets, and a limited number of tires (up to six passenger vehicle tires per household). However, the event does not accept roofing material, sheet rock, dirt, brick, brush, lumber, construction materials, or industrial or commercial waste.

Please note that the City reserves the right to divert loads to alternative sites in the event of operational constraints. It’s important to highlight that the City and its partners are not liable for any damage to vehicles or injuries sustained by attendees during the event.

For those unable to attend the free landfill day, SWMD operates four bulky item drop-off centers year-round, Tuesday through Saturday, where solid waste can be disposed of free of charge.

Don’t miss this opportunity to responsibly dispose of household waste and bulky items. Let’s work together to keep our city clean and beautiful!
