SAN ANTONIO — A new partnership is helping those who keep downtown San Antonio running smoothly stay comfortable on the job.

Centro San Antonio has teamed up with San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS) to provide high-quality footwear for its Ambassador team, ensuring they are better equipped to handle the physical demands of their daily work.

Centro Ambassadors are a familiar presence across downtown, delivering year-round services focused on cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and hospitality within the Public Improvement District (PID). Their role requires constant movement, often walking miles each day to maintain a welcoming and vibrant environment for residents and visitors.

Through the new partnership, SAS is supplying handcrafted footwear designed for durability, comfort, and long-term performance—key features for a team that spends most of its time on foot.

“This partnership represents the very best of San Antonio,” said Trish DeBerry, President and CEO of Centro San Antonio. “SAS is not only known for its exceptional quality, but as a hometown success story rooted in craftsmanship and pride. Much like our Ambassadors, they reflect the spirit of our city: hardworking, welcoming, and committed to excellence.”

SAS leadership echoed that sentiment, highlighting the company’s long-standing commitment to quality and community impact.

“For 50 years, San Antonio Shoemakers has built our company on craftsmanship, quality, and care for others,” said Nancy Richardson, CEO of SAS. “Supporting Centro San Antonio through this shoe donation is a natural extension of that legacy, ensuring our work continues to serve people in meaningful, sustainable ways.”

The partnership came together after SAS recognized the unique physical demands placed on the Ambassador team. The footwear provided blends comfort, style, and the durability the brand is known for worldwide.

SAS representatives were on-site at Centro Ambassador headquarters on Thursday, April 2, where team members were fitted and received their new shoes.

With thousands of steps taken each day, the investment aims to ensure those who help keep downtown San Antonio clean and welcoming can continue going the extra mile—now with a little more comfort underfoot.
