The San Antonio Spurs Coyote has been named the 2020 NBA Mascot of the Year.
The award was voted by all 26 of the 30 NBA teams that have mascots. There were several factors that were considered such as in-game performances, skits, community engagement, and social media content. With that said, the Spurs Coyote is a San Antonio iconic celebrity here at home and also that stands out in the NBA.
Even though the “Entertainus Carnivorous” doesn’t wear any pants and has made it his motto, he has become a big star coming up with great videos for the “NBA Quarantine Content.”
As far as awards, this isn’t his first rodeo. The popular mascot had won Best Mascot of the Year in 2014. He was named mascot of the year by GameOps.com in 2006. Named NBA’s (Most Valuable Varmint) MVV for the 23rd time in his career in 2015/2016. Also, did you know the Spurs Coyote was inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2007!
The Coyote was introduced in 1983 and what an honor it was to see the mascot holding the 2020 trophy.
