UVALDE, Texas โ After raising more than $200,000 for youth organizations in its inaugural year, the South Texas Showdown is saddling up once again at the Uvalde County Fairplex, bringing four days of rodeo action, community spirit, and Western tradition from October 20โ26.
The event, founded by local parents, philanthropists, and rodeo enthusiasts, blends world-class competition with a mission-driven purpose: to benefit youth nonprofits in Uvalde and surrounding counties. As a registered 501(c)3, proceeds from the Showdown support groups such as Little League, 4-H, FFA, Boys & Girls Club, and dozens of other youth programs dedicated to building leadership, community, and life skills.
A Community-Built Legacy
โWe decided to create this event to give back to the community,โ said Bart Hutton, co-founder of the South Texas Showdown. โAs a longtime Uvalde resident, I felt like this is something the city was missing, and last yearโs response proved just that.โ
The inaugural 2024 event united rodeo fans and athletes from across the country, raising significant funds while earning praise for its top-tier production.
โThank you to South Texas Showdown, the committee, sponsors and Bart Hutton for putting on a class act event,โ said Scott Snedecor, who placed second in the Roy Angermiller Steer Roping. โThe production, steers, arena, hospitality and community support were second to none.โ
