SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 19, 2025) – Artpace San Antonio will celebrate its 30th anniversary with The Happening in Red on October 11, 2025, honoring founder Linda Pace (1945–2007) and acclaimed sculptor and installation artist Nancy Rubins, a Spring 1997 International Artist-in-Residence.
The biennial gala is among Artpace’s largest fundraisers, supporting the nonprofit’s core programs and ensuring free year-round public and educational offerings. “As we celebrate 30 years of serving our mission and community, we are delighted to honor Linda’s unique vision for Artpace and unwavering dedication to artists and San Antonio, as well as the much-acclaimed, monumental talent of sculptor and installation artist, Nancy Rubins,” said Artpace Director Riley Robinson.
The Happening in Red is chaired by Rick Liberto, Patricia Ruiz-Healy, and Guillermo Nicolas, all current or former members of the Board of Directors with long-standing ties to Pace and the organization. “As a friend of Linda’s and original Board member, I’m thrilled to co-chair Artpace’s 30th anniversary celebration. The Happening in Red will be epic!” Nicolas said.
The evening will feature cocktails, dinner, presentations, and the unveiling of Artpace’s newly renovated rooftop deck, which will host its first event—the After Party.
Artpace’s milestone celebration highlights not only three decades of contemporary art in San Antonio but also the philanthropy that fuels the nonprofit’s mission to connect artists with the community and contribute to the city’s cultural landscape.
