Artisan Distillery & Craft Bar to Close After 13 Years

With heavy hearts, Artisan Distillery & Craft Bar has announced it will permanently close its doors on January 25, bringing an end to a 13-year run as one of San Antonioโ€™s pioneers in craft distilling and cocktail culture.

Founded in 2012, Artisan Distillery began by producing Spike Vodka, the only vodka made from nopal cactus, and quickly expanded its portfolio to include Texas Pride Vodka, S&C Gin, Bexar Ridge Bourbon Whisky, Pecan Ridge Whisky, Chupacabra Juice Moonshine, and Aguila Agave Spirit. Over the years, Artisan also grew into a brewery, offering house-made beers and creative beer infusions.

The adjacent Artisan Craft Bar served as the distilleryโ€™s tasting room, where guests could enjoy hand-crafted cocktails made entirely from spirits produced on site, helping solidify its reputation as a cornerstone of San Antonioโ€™s local craft beverage scene.

According to the business, the decision to close comes after a combination of ongoing economic and market challenges, increased production costs driven by current tariffs, and a broader decline in demand for hand-crafted cocktails and micro-distilleries and breweries.

Despite the upcoming closure, Artisan Craft Bar will continue its popular weekly programming through its final days. This includes Drag Bingo every Friday night, Flash Laughs stand-up comedy every Saturday, and Hangover Drag Brunch with themed drag shows every Sunday. Guests are encouraged to follow @artisancraftbar on Instagram for the latest event details.

Artisan Distillery & Craft Bar is located at 402 Austin Street and will officially close on January 25, marking the end of an era for one of San Antonioโ€™s original craft distilling destinations.
