Alamo Plaza bandstand to be relocated to Hays Street Bridge
This week, crews will be dismantling the historic bandstand that stood in front of the Menger Hotel at Alamo Plaza for decades part of the Alamo phase one plan. Once disassembled, crews will take it to the Berkley V. and Vincent M. Dawson Park where its new home will be adjacent to the Hays Street Bridge.
Trees in the area will be trimmed by an arborist specialising in tree pruning. People who want to see the progress of the disassembly can spectate via special webcam online.
The disassembly has been approved by the San Antonio Historic Design and Review Commission (HDRC) and the Alamo. According to the Alamo’s website. The roof is two parts. The upper top roof and the surrounding lower portion of the canopy. Those will be lifted onto a flatbed trailer. This should be completed by this weekend with reassembly to take place on Monday.
